NORTH TO ALASKA –Whitehorse, Yukon Territory

TRIP DAY – 24
DAILY MILES  -  19
TOTAL MILES – 4,002

7/8 – Whitehorse has been a pleasure.  We stayed at the Hi Country Good Sam RV Park which was very nice.  They have a pressure RV wash that we used to remove four thousand miles of dirt from the Winnebago.  It looks much better.  Some of the RVs on the road are totally covered in mud and dust.  I don’t know if they will ever come clean.  Long sections of the Alaska Highway are under construction and at times we can’t see the vehicle in front of us for the dust.
While is Whitehorse we visited the following:  The SS Klondike II (stern-wheeler on the Yukon River 1937-1955); Whitehorse Fishway (longest wooden fish ladder in the world); Yukon Beringia Museum (land route traveled by the first humans entering Americas from Asia.  Alaska and the Yukon are full of ice age fossils.); Whitehorse Waterfront Trolley from 1925.  There are many other attractions in Whitehorse, some of which we will see on our return trip back to the US.
We also did some re-supplying today.  Wal-Mart doesn’t have a Superstore here so we picked up a few items there and then headed to the REAL CANADIAN SUPERSTORE.  It had an excellent selection and good prices.  I would recommend a stop there if you are going through Whitehorse.

Tomorrow we leave here headed approximately 500 more miles before we reach the border to Alaska near Tok.  We’ll be stopping at least one night before then.  I don’t expect to have Internet available for a couple of days, but I’ll keep you posted.
