7/7 –Yesterday we managed to complete Watson Lake by 2:00 PM and decided to burn some miles toward Whitehorse. These towns are so small – Watson Lake population 1,200 – and compact, you can get around to the attractions quickly. We are now running three days ahead of our original schedule. Another observation is camp only in Canada Provincial Parks or Good Sam Parks. Most commercial parks are not anywhere near what’s advertised. The ones we have tried remind me of the “Bates Hotel” variety campgrounds.
Whitehorse is the capital of the Yukon and a town of over 26,000, so I expect we may spend two nights here. We have a list of museums to cover before heading out. Below are some pictures I couldn’t upload yesterday –
